"SORINA!" Serenity growled at the dove as she slammed the knife she had been using into the cutting board. She was sick and tired of putting up with this dove today, number one she had been volunteered to cook the turkey for thanksgiving and then she got to put up with the spirit world. This was not a good day.
"What?" said dove asked ruffling her feathers to distract her future seeking friend from getting to mad at her.
Serenity narrowed her eyes at the dove and tried to pull the knife out of the cutting board "Oh don't even think of playing all innocent with me I know all of your tricks remember." she said and continued to carve the turkey she had been cooking. It actually felt good to be cutting up some sort of poultry while secretly wishing that it was the dead dove in front of her. At least some good had come of her moderate culinary skills.
Sorina blinked and hopped onto Serenity's shoulder, "But I wasn't playing innocent." she objected lightly. The dove sure knew how to push her buttons.
Serenity pulled the knife out of the cutting board taking a quick step back to steady herself after the effort it took to pull it out, "So you've decided to argue with the girl holding the knife." she said with a disapproving glace at the dove. Most of the titans were used to her arguing with something they couldn't see by now but that didn't stop it from still being weird.
"You know..."
"Oh shut up." she growled wishing she really could chop the turkey in front of her into little tiny pieces.

Normally, sane people didn't argue with themselves.
Then again, when you could see spirits, it probably wasn't as weird. It was probably about as weird as Nessa trying to determine which mysterious liquid in the kitchen was a dangerous acid by practically drinking some of it. Not that she was trying it at the moment, but the other day, she had a feeling that the strange smell was not just rotting food. Thus, she had spent the afternoon going through the various plastic and glass bottles until the toxic ones were locked in a supply closet and the soda was organized in a small bunch next to the counter. After all, if she was going to be a stay-at-home Titan, she mine as well be useful to everybody else.
Today, though, she wasn't sure how useful she was going to be.
Sure, Vanessa was open-minded and tended to be more skilled at cooking than some of the other Titans. Still, a turkey? She rarely had helped with those sorts of holiday meals at home, yet alone here. Then again, based upon how often people were there for a group dinner, she doubted anybody would care. She frowned slightly to herself as she made her way into the kitchen, contemplating other sorts of holiday food. Surely there was something she could cook besides learning how to roast - people roasted turkeys, didn't they? - a turkey for a major meal of the year.
She didn't bother to announce her entrance, she was sure that Serenity had noticed her. If not, perhaps she had seen her coming. Nessa didn't know that much about her abilities to know what all she saw. She tossed a dark curl over her shoulder and quickly took in the scene of the Honorary Titan arguing with the same invisible identity she seemed to hang around with. She beamed as she crossed the floor barefoot, pushing the sleeves of her shirt up past her elbows and tugging at the crocheted cap perched on her head.
"Am I going to help you with the bird or make something else? Or can you not see that?" she asked cheerfully as she leaned against the counter. She quickly turned to open a drawer to pull out a pan, still unsure what she was even looking for. Nessa giggled softly as she wandered over to the refrigerator. "Do you know if we have any potatoes or pie filling, or would that require a trip to the store? Or, well, I suppose Green could probably help with that..." The last part was more of an afterthought, aimed toward herself.
She straightened up and turned to grin at Serenity.
"Well, I figured you could use some help."

Serenity smiled gratefully at Nessa, "Thanks for the help, and there's some sweet patatos that green made the other day in the back of the pantry." she said and stuck a thermometer in the turkey and stuck it in the oven, "That should do it." she said with a sigh.
She had almost no cooking experience but that seemed like the right thing to do and she couldn't see the turkey coming out to badly. "Just don't forget the bird." Sorina said teasing the blond about her culinary skills.
Serenity glared at the dove for a moment before turning back to Nessa, "What herbs do you think should go in the patatos?" she asked with a sigh looking at the cupboards that green had so kindly stocked.

Nessa followed the directions until she had said sweet potatoes. Perfect holiday food? Sweet potatoes with marshmallows on top. She smiled at the idea of that, quickly searching for a potato peeler. She also assembled several other ingredients, practically bubbling with excitement. She got to work on the dish, almost humming to herself. It was an odd sight, her joy, but perhaps it beat being in a room with the most negative Titans. She took up most of the space in and around the sink for the process. "I'm not sure how much food we should have. In case anybody is out stirring trouble, or something like that. I guess there are a lot of us in all."
"Hmm. Depends. For usual mashed potatoes, salt and pepper is probably fine." She paused, frowning slightly. Was there any time she had potatoes that were somehow more prepared? "You could toss in some garlic and Parmesan cheese, if you wanted to. Or scallions, the green onion things." She wasn't entirely sure what they had, and hoped that perhaps her suggestion could help in some way.
She finished peeling another couple of sweet potatoes before glancing at Serenity. "I know this is in a while, but I think I may go back to see my family for the holidays at the end of December." She shrugged, frowning slightly once again. Nessa wasn't normally very contemplative, but there was something about the meal that seemed to have gotten to her. "I'm not sure how relevant that was to anything. But I'm obviously not going back for Thanksgiving. And maybe by December, things will calm down a bit and I can go visit. I haven't seen them in a while."

Serenity nodded thoughtfully, and pushed her blond hair out of her face as it bounced directly into her gaze. She hadn't really thought about how may titans would actually show up on thanksgiving dinner. It was defiantly a good question that probably should have an answer, but a question that probably wouldn't receive one.
She sighed softly to herself but knowing the titans they'd probably eat all the food they made anyway. That was just who they were.
She glanced back at Nessa with a softer look, "Yeah they might, but if you really want to go I'm sure the team would make it happen." Serenity herself hadn't thought about her mother in a while. Yes while she was at collage she provided for her but they did live in different cities. Most people with the gift of foresight tried to spread that particular power. It didn't always work but that was how things went. Her mother was in Metropolis and she was here. "Family is important." she said with a smile and tried to think of something useful to do in the kitchen.

Nessa smiled. She couldn't remember the last time she had seen her cousins. She had moved out, and the youngest would be graduating this year. Once that happened, she figured the only time would be during the holidays. Her aunt was the only one she could really relate to, and she was dying to talk to her. Their powers were similar, but not quite the same. "I would just feel bad if something happened. I know that's negative, but it seems like there's always some robbery or something on big days. I'm sure the team could handle it, though."
She continued to put together the dish, her nose crinkled slightly as she focused on it. It was just food, she wasn't sure why she was so particular about it. She soon had the sweet potatoes prepared and ready to go in the oven, though she assumed that it would be a bad idea to place them with the turkey. She wasn't a chef very often, and she didn't know how likely they were to blow up and splatter everything in the oven. She grinned to herself as she debated what to do next. "I'm glad we're putting this room to use. It seems like virtually nobody can cook anything, or if they can, they don't bother cleaning everything up."
She felt a nudge at her leg and glanced down. There was her puppy, eagerly searching for some sort of table-scraps to eat up. "Oh, Jet," Vanessa murmured to the dog, sending him a disapproving glance and placing her hands on her hips. The dog responded by licking the knee of her pants and shuffling off under a table. "I wonder if Athena has seen him yet," she said. "I'm not sure if she's the pet type or not, seeing as... well, yeah." She smiled a bit as she opened the fridge once more to pull something out.

Serenity smiled thoughtfully at the thought of Nessa going home for the holidays, "I'll call you ahead of time trust me, but the team can handle almost anything, all we need to do it really get Shift mad." she joked lightly and shuddered slightly at the thought of some of the others cooking.
The sad fact was half of the team weren't natives from earth so.... "Well Jet probably could cook a better turkey then half of the team she joked lightly. "Well as Athena's probably the only one here who can talk to him I'm sure they'll get on fine." she said with a smile. She loved animals herself but at the moment was having a little trouble with birds.
"It was not my fault you dropped half of the things down~"
"You were the one snoring! and I didn't even say anything you stupid dove."
"You didn't have to the glare said it all."
Serenity rolled her eyes and then smiled happily, "Oh nessa the patatos taste great!" she said with a smile at the other girl.
